Black American history taught in schools often times begins and ends with slavery and the Harlem Renaissance. This book dissects into both of these facts, while also covering the effects Anti-Blackness has on Black America. This source dissects Anti-Blackness on a global range. It also talks about Anti-Blackness within interracial marriages and the internalized Anti-Blackness biracial children may harbor.
The book also covers the basic history of race based discrimination and race relations in the United States as a whole.
Sexton explains the harmfulness of antimiscegenation, while also critiquing multiracialism in America. The most poignant bit of information in this book that aligns with my research is Anti-Blackness and the effects it has on black mixed children and how far this goes back in history. These children have been subject to Anti-Blackness through some sort of form of consumable outlet and were taught to hate themselves.
This source gets into where this all came from and how it carried through to future generations. This book covers how race relations in America have shaped society as a whole and deeply affected its Black mixed youth. Patterson, and Aida Levy-Hussen. This source dissects the collective trauma and impact of slavery on Black America, on future Black generations, Black culture, and psychological imprints. It addresses the challenges of representation in the context of protracted Western traditions of Anti-Blackness.
